Rockefeller Refuge

Heard was supposed to open the 17th of this month and of course nothing out the ordinary they are still closed when I called the office. So guess I'm gonna have to try catch a few crabs at Rollover. Anybody catching or been to that side of the refuge ?

A guy at work said he went this past weekend. He said it was open. He said you cant crab in the front by the rig but you can go to the back down price lake road.

Can you launch a boat at the end of price lake road ?

gasdad 09-18-2012 03:30 PM

No boat launching allowed on price lake road

Well darn I was hoping could've dumped off the side the road or something to go to the weirs at joseph harbor. Guess gonna have to go and fight the crowd at rollover

The weirs at joseph harbor is not at price lake road. I think you can still dock at the penzoil dock at the road.

You can go down that canal at price lake road and it takes you to joseph harbor comes in right near the cement hole. Check it out on google satellite. Where is the penzoil dock I wanna launch a boat and access the weirs ?

The penzoil dock is right at the road on 82 about 5 to 10 miles before price lake road. That is what i call joseph harbor. They have a gravel road on the side of it. It goes a little ways down to a landing with some locks. I assumed that was what you were talking about.

gasdad 09-19-2012 04:43 PM

Afraid you can't launch at the Penzoil dock either. This is a private dock. If you could launch there, every yahoo would be using it and no one else uses it but the Penzoil peeps.

bambam075 09-19-2012 04:50 PM

Did not know that. Makes sense.

That's prolly the one it has the east end locks and then on the other side it had two back downs to launch a boat along a bulkhead.

i was there two weekends ago and they seem to have alot left to do at st. joseph harbor... i stopped by to play around in the front to see if there wud be anything to be able to fish for.. end up watching them just standing around talking and not doing much but there was some welders welding in some areas but the rest of them was just standing around talkig. so i figured it will be a good while before it opens up due to money problems. im hoping the shrimps will be still there cux if they open up late like for instance in end of oct or nov that is gonna make everyone :pissed::pissed::pissed:
