October Fishing

If you live in Terrebonne parish I don't have to tell you how great our fishing has been and will continue to be through the end of the year. We've completed the first week of October with the redfish bite still going strong as it has been the past 6 weeks. Our trout fishing will get better each week as water temps are starting to cool down. This weekend we saw boats out in full force as everyone is getting in on the fall fishing action. The best area has been in Lake Mechant & Sister Lake as one can find the birds working almost every day. Plenty of white trout right now for the taking but keeper specks have been hit or miss. If you work the birds hard its possible to catch your limits of 12-14 in. trout.Double rigs with LSU,Chicken On A Chain and Cajun Pepper has worked well for us. Noticed most boats were popping corks and that will work just fine too. The gaff-tops are not as bad as the cooler water will drive them away. We enjoyed another great week of fishing as we brought in over 130 reds and nearly 100 trout. Big thanks to Steve Meador & Leonard Garvin for fishing with me for 2 days,Bernie Dupre for 2 days out of Falgout Canal, Raymond Harris & crew and Stewart Delcambre and his daughter Darby. Capt Gerald had a great group in for 2 days of fishing from Wyoming and everyone had a great adventure on the DU! Looking forward to another great week ahead. Good luck fishing.
