Suzuki HELP!!!
I have a 2003 Suzuki 225 with an electronics problem. Before it used to just throw the warning buzzer and go into limp mode, I could turn off clear code and go on like nothing happened. Then one day I left the launch went to get on step and nothing, only 3cyl out of 6firing one whole side doesn't fire and yesterday I was talking it they with boat mech while runnin 3/4 throttle at a whopping 1600rpms and bam she kicked on all 6 and got up I backed off throttle and when I got back on it 3cyl there on. Now to the trickier part. Sometimes ill be idling and it shut down no warning and when I turn the key on before turning it over when it beeps and cycles fuel pump etc. it won't beep nor start but I keep the key on and sit there it will all of a sudden beep and then I can start it and then it does the same thing sometimes runs longer than others. I think electrical and shortage of voltage somewhere being a computer operation not letting but 3cyl fire and doing the wierd shut off no beep then beep then start/ then shut down and repeat. I'm stumped now. Pls suggest something besides getting a new motor I can't do that at this time!

Have you brought it to a dealer and see if it is throwing a code?
|
Not a dealer just a normal mechanic. He changed plugs and a water pressure sensor or so he says
|
Bring it to someone that can hook it up to a computer and see if the onboard computer has any codes

I think it's the ignition timing coils

Try disconnecting the wiring connections, inspecting them for any burned spots. If they're any,it may be causing a dead short. When the plastic burns it becomes a conductor, causing a short. They may look fine from the outside but when opened an inspected it's easy to see. Good Luck.

Here is the problem I was having with mine and maybe it can help you.
When I would crank my motor everything ran great, it idled fine, got on plane good, and ran good at wide open throttle, and when i backed off the throttle it would alarm, go back down to an idle then shut off. Took it to the dealer and they told me that it was either the computer or a problem with the wiring as mentioned earlier. They ended up changing the computer and it fixed my problem. I never ran it enough before fixing it to see if my problem would have progressed as yours did, but the situations definately sound similar. Hope this helps!! |
Found what seems to be problem 1 the remote wire going from center console to motor for multi function gauge alarm was faulty so I hard wired the harness and re grounded. Problem 2 was it only firing on 3/6 cylinders. After checking the cranking sensor and battery charge coils I discovered corrosion on every magnetic p/u. So flywheel is pulled starting to clean magnetic p/u hopefully water test it tomorrow or Thursday will give report. Thx for all replies guys it really helps to have many inputs when your dealing with electronics nightmares.
