I wonder why mapquest didn't want to use I 10? I've made that drive quite a few times and always used the interstates..

That trip thru Baton Rouge and New Orleans, or Lafayette with a 30 ft. boat will suck.
But you have to do one or the other.
I run down there once a month. I would pass thru either Laff or BR after the rush hours, in the late evening.
Don't try to stop between Laplace and Belle Chase. It will be a hassle.

MapQuest did come up using I-10. I rerouted the drive to show the best route. The only real traffic you run into this way is at the West Bank.

Yeah, i guess it depends on what time you are going. Baton Rouge and NO can be terrible if you pick the wrong times. Good idea, honestly I never even knew there was a road down there from Lafayette...

It's a limited access hwy most of the way. Also, most of the speed limit is 70 mph.

Not just Downtown. All of BR traffic sucks. Been under construction since 1922.

Hwy 90 is better rd than 10 in my opinion anyways less traffic and u don't have to cross basin bridge and most if it is 70 mph

Guys thanks for help

I-49 down to hwy 90. 90% of the route is 60mph and above. Your only slowdowns will be Lafayette, maybe Brousard, Patterson going into Morgan City has a few lights then no more traffic lights till you hit Bayou Gauche and Boutte. I'd go 90

90 will def be an easier route. Thats way we always go!!
