hog trap?
 

I am looking to buy a trap, looking for recommendations or does anyone build and sell them. I want something I can move by myself with 4wheeler and or small trailer. I have looked at some at Tractor Supply and a few other places but want to make sure I get something that works and will last.

I trap them down at my lease in Texas with trap but they get wise to that real quick especially when they smell the blood from the last rooter that was unlucky enough to get caught. You might think about building a corral trap with a rooting gate. Put a feeder inside and leave the gate open until they get used to going in and then you set the trap and can catch the whole damn bunch! I caught a 122lb hog last week and BBQ'd some chops. Ate it right off the pit along with some cold suds. Good stuff!

I have tried coral style and I ended up with so many big ones that they pulled the post up and drug it through the woods, it looked like a murder seen from all the hog blood so I want something reinforced with angle iron and want floor and roof made of hog panel

You can't leave it a month out there plus you got a build it right.

yea, mine is made of 1.5" angle and 50" cattle panel trap is 50"H / 50"W /8' long
with a swing gate. I have panel on the floor as well as on top.

It was only set to trap about two days but since it had a swing gate they just kept going in, I have seen groups of 10 or more hogs so you do the math on how many were inside and I had 8' t-post drove 3' in the ground and all of it was tied off with stainless safety wire.... it was built sturdy but..... like I said it needs floor, roof and angle for bracing

It can not have a roof. Has to made where a deer or bear can get out.

Go look at Mcneely feeders in Sulphur, he's got a couple different styles of 4'x8's with the root door. There's a guy that makes 3'x3'x6' traps with the guilotinne door for $250, but he's out of Houston. I can probably dig up his number if you want.

Any experience with the one like Mcneely sells? The one at Tractor Supply has root door and is 4x4x8

Anybody know if the guy going into deridder on the left is still selling hog traps.

No. I think one has the door mounted at an angle and the other one's door opens normal. They are both spring loaded, and one of them has wheels and a trailer tongue on it. They both look well made.

I am gonna go look tomorrow at them, I want to start catching some hogs since I have so many running around
