delcambre to the bay

Is the drive from Delcambre canal to the bay a long drive and is the water level using pretty good in the canal to the bay?

Montauk17 11-01-2012 09:47 PM

Bout 20 mins going 35 mph or so.....no problem with low water if you stay in the middle.

haoward 11-01-2012 09:51 PM

is it worth fishing in the canal in delcambre?

Montauk17 11-01-2012 09:54 PM

Back when all I had was a 14' flat I fished canal often. Mostly blue cats and reds when the water is right. I used to tie up to a channel marker on the right bank heading south before you get to the intracoastal. Forgot what the number on the marker was but it was a good spot for reds. Falling tide is best.

kinda scared driving the boat in the canal I don't wanna get stuck that would suck

Montauk17 11-01-2012 10:02 PM

Shrimp boats run the canal....as long as you stay in the middle there is nothing to worry about.

delcambre canal has plenty of water... even at very low levels... no problem there, just stay in the middle

Is the new launch in Delcambre finished yet?

speck cc 11-02-2012 11:37 AM

Doesn't look like they started yet???

Dink 11-02-2012 11:56 AM

You shohld be fine as long as you dont have a heavy bayboat like a VIP or fishmaster.

haoward 11-02-2012 12:28 PM

Still getting use to my boat but you think the cape horn is not too heavy?

Dink 11-02-2012 12:29 PM

No!! A Cape Horn can go anywhere!! Best boat ever made!!

kenmore_mo1 11-02-2012 03:18 PM

It sucks when its really foggy... took me a little over an hour to get to the trash pile today

Look like Don's landing would be a closer run to the bay? trying to find somewhere closer to me since going to CP is 45 min drive. I live in Erath

Depends on where you fishing. Delcambre is closer to CP

I'd rather drive by vehicle further and be fishing a mile from the launch at the state park than ride in a boat for 30 minutes. Then if you want to go to dry reef or hammock, wow, that's far from delcambre or dons.

haoward 11-06-2012 12:59 AM
