Poll for the duck hunters

I was just curious what all the hunters on here thought.

I say do what ever makes you happy . The darn things dont work half the time anyway .

cmcnabb 11-07-2012 08:29 PM

I say don't ban them. It's not going to stop the clowns from doing what they do. I like them during teal season but thats about all the use they will see. I tried them for big ducks in the marsh before and never really thought they did that much good and the first flock that acted like they didn't like it I pulled it anyway.

X2.....if you do not like them....do not use them.....that is all we need another law / rule put on us....:work:

I use them some of the time but wish they were not allowed. Please don't say "just don't use them" because that's not the same as having no one using them. I think that over the years they have made the ducks harder to decoy and therefore there is more sky busting than ever before. By the time the birds get to Louisiana they have seen many mojos.

specktator 11-07-2012 08:43 PM

I use them for teal and flooded timber. I rather not use them in PI for big ducks b/c I know everyone else around me is using at least one in their spread. They tend to flare on them. I am probably the only area within a few square miles that doesn't use one. I think it helps. But I wouldn't be for banning them.

Top Dawg 11-07-2012 08:56 PM

I have hunted in other peoples blinds that use them and the experiences I have had with them is the people couldn't call well and they used a mojo. And the ducks would break and look but wouldn't finish and they were fine with 40-60 yard shots. They would get almost in gun range and flare off the spinner. But that was fine with them. Empty gun kill one cripple two. I think the mojo takes away some of what duck hunting is. To each their own but my dad always taught me to hunt without one. In his words " if you gotta use a robo you can't call" lol. This is my opinion not tryin to start an argument.

Whatever kind of calling it takes to get the job done

bgizzle 11-07-2012 10:33 PM

X3. And every decoy spread. If it makes it look more natural I agree and I won't hunt without em for teal. More natural inst keeping em on all hunt

Pattering your gun with different shell types and different chokes and shooting clay will go a lot further than spending time and money on decoys, face paint and gun stickers. Hitting 80%-90% of your shots is where every hunter needs to be. Making the most out of your opportunities and chasing less cripples will also save a lot on shells. Improving your shot and adding more cover/hiding better should be first and foremost.
