Made a trip this morning with Ray and we found some hungry trout. It wasn’t no fast action but it was steady. The bait of choice today was the new Vudu Shrimp from Egret Baits in root beer and natural color. Threw a wedge tail glow chart. mullet in the mix also. All in all it was a good trip. Started off in Indian Bayou by Country Club and ended in Bayou D’Inde. Ended the trip with 22 chunky trout. The bit stopped when the wind picked up.

The water was stained and was running from 59 to 62 degrees. The tide was outgoing upon our arrival and then switched to incoming and there was a light wind. The Wedge tail Mullet was connected to a Lew’s reel which was on a Calcasieu Xtreame Rod and the Vudu shrimp were connected to the same set up.

nice looking fish and bait. would like to make a trip towards that area when i get in from offshore, but we'll see how that goes

I wasn't fishing a cork, Chris was. Just trying to see the difference.
Early in the morning, the cork did better. After they slowed down, without cork worked better.
I think the clear one in the picture did better than the white shrimp and the root beer shrimp.

The Vudu Shrimp also hooked most fish in the roof of the mouth. Right thru the bone.
We lost zero fish today. Never done that fishing Trout.
The size is just small enough to get way into their mouth. No hook sets in the lip.

Does LC Tackle carry these?

Not yet. Egret Baits site has the natural and the root beer colored ones right now.
They have kevlar in the tail so it won't break. Nice action in the tail too.
Not regular one piece shrimp.

And it don't slip up and down the hook, like DOA and TKO shrimp.
You don't have to glue it to the hook. And the hooks are sharp.

We were lucky enough to get some clear ones. That clear thing works pretty dang good.
They work good under a cork or just tied to your line.

Hey Ray is it tougher than DOA shrimp? Because that bait is garbage!

Very tough. DOA and TKO have to be glued to the hook to keep them from tearing up.
This one stays on the hook. No damaged plastic from the teeth.
The one in the first picture caught several fish, no marks.

Just ordered a pack of each color.

The endura shrimp are nice too....last much longer than tko and doa. Gunna have to try the egret.
