Want to fish Big Lake.
Merry Christmas All, Never fished Big Lake before planing on fishing it Thurs is they anything I have to look out for as in Low water ect. I heard there is a place south with a man made structure is? Also if the NOAA is calling east 5-10 knots, with slight chop how bad will the water be. Trying change it up from fishing VBay

Search Jadams posts. He gives some very useful reports/info to help you get started.

You need to launch in deep water and stay there....water is extremely low this time of year...even the most experienced guides on BL can find themselves in a pickle...jus BEWARE

thanks, Planing on making the trip this thurs if it don't rain. If Noaa is calling for 5-10 wind will the wave be big out on the lake? Planing on launching at calcasieu point landing or is they one closer to the weirs?

what kind of boat you in?

Launch at Heberts if you fishing the weirs. It will protect you from a North or East wind. Water is still low. Will be a long run if you in a flat bottom aluminum boat. |
Its a 17ft Cape Horn Bay boat would the water be too low?
|
you should be fine just dont hug the bank too close and if you fish the grand bayou weir make sure you swing wide to the right side coming around the corner to get to it
|
is that the weir that hold the most of the reds? is it that shallow next to the bank? thanks for the quick reply guys
