Mercury levels in Big Lake

Someone told me that the mercury levels in big lake are really high, and you should only eat fish out of there once a month. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

I have been hearing that for 40 years. At one time, there were signs at every boat launch and at the jetties in Cameron.
I still ate the fish and I am still alive. If they pass a law, then I will stop eating them.
Fresh fish out of Big Lake are much much better than any fish you can get out of the store.
And you know when they were caught and that they were never frozen.
Plus you don't know the mercury, bacteria and fecal coliform levels in any fish caught in other countries that you buy in the stores.
I'll take my chances right here at home.

I think most of us would be dead by now if mercury was a problem. I probably eat fish 6 or 9 times a month.

It might be interesting if we got tested for mercury and compair the results to what is considered "NORMAL".
