Styrofoam

Does anyone know where I get some big peices of styrofoam and about how much they cost? Thanks

They have a guy on Craigslist that advertises them - I think they are 2'x4' or 4'x4', either way they are pretty good size.

$50 a block

What about the real big ones that are about a foot thick that people use for floating boathouses and things like that?

2'x4' or 4'x4' are real big compared to the ones that are about a foot thick!

That's what they were for, but I don't see him in there anymore. Musta sold out. I see a cat with some 55gal plastic drums in St Martinville though.

Call some of the insulation company's that do the spray foam in walls and ask if they can do some, you may can build a few forms and have them filled

If you have some made be sure to get a " Closed Cell " foam. I re-built a boat a few years ago and the research showed that most foam will get saturated after time if it is not closed cell. I ordered a kit from some place in Flordia. That stuff really expands have to be careful how much you pour at a time.

If your gonna use the foam for a camp or dock, I know a few people that have had good luck wrapping the big blocks in fiberglass to help extend the life expectacy out of the foam blocks. If just left bare the will break down over time.
