my father-in-law is head of the drainage board and told me it wasnt looking good when i talked to him earlier. It was 1/2 from cresting the levee and they were in the process of repairing and sandbagging some areas. Pump system they have in place wont help if the levee breaks and water isnt expected to crest till monday or tuesday. Im sure I will be having to head that way soon so let me know if anyone needs anything

Thanks Hydro, I am from the area anyone willing to help can contact the Lake Arthur or Welsh fire Dept. and let them know you are willing to use you're boat if needed for evacuation.

he said the fields look like a lake but everything at the farm (shop, equipment, camp, etc.) should be fine. thats one of the highest spots around

I offer them my gator-tail today if it was needed. Looks like it will be coming over onetime tonight. This would be the lake front part of town. Also behind the old Jeff Davis bank. Behind the sewer plant that levee still has about 18" before it comes over.

i think as of right now everybody is ok the coast guard has all boat traffic shut down right now my wife told me this morning that the water has started to come over the levee in some spots already im stuck offshore an my house could be flooded thanks for everybody wanting to help

papap 01-13-2013 12:47 PM

It's only coming over the sea wall on lake front. Hoping with north wind it will push it down and they will pump out what came over soon. The rest of the levee system is doing ok right now.
