State Police Checkpoint Hwy 27
 

The State Police had a roadblock on Hwy 27 south of Hackberry at the Sabine Refuge Hdqtr's. Checking the duck hunters pulling their trailers home. We saw a number of people ticketed while we waited to be checked. There were 6 state police vehicles and a couple of Cameron sherrif vehicles there.

Glenn.....how was your hunt?

Were they looking for inspection stickers or lights and expired plates?

Bump....

I hunted with a friend on his lease south of Sabine Refuge. One grey duck that floated off and got eaten by a hawk, and one mottled duck. It has been slow the last couple of weeks and we mainly went to pick up the decoys.

The police were asking for insurance cards and checking the trailer license plate. We saw one guy pulled aside for having a tail light out on his trailer, he kept his foot on the brake while the patrolman was checking the traile and it was obvious. They didn't ask to see trailer inspection.

The main purpose of the checkpoint was for Insurance. If someone was checked and had other violations then they were also cited.

They just making the roads safe for me.

thats profiling, picking on the hunters knowing they would be leaving with their equipment. and profiling is wrong

We got pulled over. After spending 30 minutes with a Federal Warden we were released without Bond.
I think next season we will put lights and a plate on the Trailer, wear seat belts, sign Duck stamps, Don't put all Birds in one Truck, etc...etc....

One of our newbee guys is still cuffed to a piling:help:
