southern151 01-27-2013 10:44 PM

$100 to instructor day of. Additional $125 to the state to get the processing completed.

I am interested. Not too familiar about what is required for this class.

I think that I read on here that you have to bring 120 rounds to the class? Is this correct? If so that may be hard to come by right now.

You'll need a passport photo, the weapon you plan to shoot and, the ability to hit a target at 6', 10' and, 15'. Not sure how many times you have to hit it. I will check but, 120 rds sounds a little excessive.

I just took one last week, only needed 50 rounds for our class. He said 100 but needed much less. You can download info from state police website. Will have to get passport photo and fingerprinted also to go along with packet.

150 out of a 13 shot "assault" pistol is one thing . But 150 rds out of my 357 wheel gun is a lot of shootin.

Fingerprints will be done on site.

I'm fairly certain that the photo will be placed on your permit. They're easy to get. Any Walgreens can do them for you. It cost me $10.95 for for 4 pics the other day.

Bluechip 01-28-2013 11:38 AM

Yep.... The photo is on your license. Always needed a photo.

Bluechip 01-28-2013 11:39 AM

And the person processing your paper work will have to sign the back of the photos.

Just a bit curious here, is there any form of FULL AUTO thats legal? I'm hearing different things. Read somewhere that if its registered pre-1986 you're good to go. If this is posted in the wrong place...my appologies.

With proper licensing through the ATF, yes, you can own a full auto firearm. When it was made(pre-86 ban), does not affect the ability to own it. It does affect what happens to it if you decide not renew your permit, from my understanding. Also, pre-86 seem to be a little cheaper, for whatever reason.

Go to ATF.gov. I'm sure you can find all the details there.

Some advice. Instead of mailing in your packet, hand deliver it to L.S.P. at the concealed carry division. Instead of doing your fingerprints elsewhere, they can print you electronically/digital at state police for a small fee. Doing this will expedite the whole process.

Hit a target at 15ft? Not yards? Heck I think even I could do that. :)
