Good and Bad Day 2/11/13
 

Started off the day fishing Hodges Gardens with my buddy to kill time before my Dr appt. Each caught a fish and missed several. It went from sunshine, to rain, to HARD RAIN, to HAIL, then to a mist. Called it a day around 12:30. Get home, change, go to dr. Realize I have a meeting at FD to see whether or not I can join the FD. Go to meeting, they accept me ( WOOO HOOO ).... On the way home, 5 deer jump out in front of me and I clip the butt end of the last one (big nanny doe). Call the sheriff's office and ask dispatch if I can putt he deer down. She had me wait so she can call a supervisor. Comes back and says " I can't tell you what to do, its not deer season" As soon as I get the ol' 12 guage from the truck, the deer drags herself into a thicket. Broken back and guts hanging out and all. Attached pics of the truck.

He may not be able to tell us that bc its out of season. Id keep it to myself if I did. Lol

no, dispatch told me if I was to shoot it, i'd get ticketed for hunting out of season. She said if the deer was still in the ditch when the officer got there, then I could dispatch the deer.

Gimme a shout Pookie. I'll line you up with a group that has cheap parts for your truck so you can get back legal with it. I'm pretty sure they have a division in LC that you can order through.

Oh yeah, congrats on gettin' the FD gig! I'm sure you'll do great!

Just need the plastic grille. Have all the lights ordered already. Just a matter of swapping it all over.

I threw one out the other day...That said, I think I can get you one for about $30-40. They aren't bad aftermarket. Changing it out is pretty easy as well. Give me a bit to get some other stuff taken care of then, call my cell. We'll get ya lined up with the right people.

3 pine FD jude. Spoke with chief Shane Book. Good fella. I had 12 gauge in hand, but didn't want to get in trouble. That deer Is dead, no doubt. Broke her in half and blew her stomach out.

No need to shoot does with a broken back. Grab head in left arm, slit throat with knife in right hand. I've done a number of them this way and they are not longer in pain very quickly after you cut the carotid.

I was told by BPSO (beauregard sheriffs office) to not touch the deer until a deputy arrives. I had a knife and was willing to put it down either way
