Preferred Polarized sunglasses

I usually don't wear sunglasses, but getting into bay fishing, figure I better get a good pair of polarized glasses. I would hate to lose them and be out of 180.00. (I know they make those trap things)

What is you're favorite glasses,(make and model) and do you know of any good cheap pairs that you wouldn't mind losing, but have good quality.

Any Costa

jchief 02-12-2013 11:29 AM

Pretty much Costas is all I wear anymore. I have several different kinds. I used to buy the cheaper ones and loose or break a pair or 2 a year. When I went to the more expensive ones, I tend to take better care of them and they have a lifetime warranty.

Calcutta(sp?) $15 for cheap and for good ones I have two pair Costa 580g lens that were regular $250 but I only paid $75 for one pair on eBay and others on steep and cheap.

Best lens, UV protection, clarity and relief from squinting are Costas in my opinion. But their frames are lacking.

Ive been using costas, on my 3rd pair. Love the way they look and great lenses. I would agree the frames could use some work. Last two pairs the frames straightened on me.

Been using costa for years but recently bought some wiley x with the foam around the inside of the frame. Very nice glasses and not as expensive as the costas.

Maui Jim's are good too. I used to buy cheap ones but quality made me switch to the more expensive ones. I also own two pairs of costas

Ive been thinking about trying a pair of those. Does the foam insert really help? I like to sight fish for reds and bedding bass.

The foam is for keeping dust and wind out of your eyes, sight fishing your better off with a wider framed costa that blocks the sunlight from sides and tops

We have the Wiley Xs at work, I'm not impressed

Hmm... on the wiley x website and on their commercial they say the foam is to block the sun Around the outside of the frame. So u can pennetrate the surface of the water better. Idk

Go try Costa Blackfins, they will block way more light out and have bigger lens for better visibility than Harpoons

msuchill4 02-12-2013 01:36 PM

check out wiley x.. great pair of glasses

SGib 02-12-2013 01:42 PM

Oakley polarized scratch really easy. Have had good luck with the costas.

I have a pair of the blackfins I prefer the wiley x now. The blackfins are nice but the weight of them gets uncomfortable fishing all day. This is the model I bought....http://www.wileyx.com/EcommSuite/Pro...emCode=CCJAK06

Leaving them in a vehicle on a hot summer day will do this for sure!

This happened to me. Also bent some when they were in my pocket, also broke a hinge on the arms.
