Dog had a seizure last night

My dog had a seizure last night. He is terrified of thunder and will try and get as close to you as possible. He jumped up in the bed last night shivering as usual when it thunders but then started having a seizure. Went on for about a minute than ten minutes later had another. I watched him the rest of the night and he was fine after that. He would try and stand up and lose his balance and then his whole body would shake, then his muscles would almost lock up. He is going to the vet this afternoon. Anyone ever seen this before with a dog? I don't know if was something he ate or what

I've had a couple labs (blood dogs)over the years that would have them. They never had one until they would get on a blood trail. They'd get so excited then have one, have to give the a few minutes to get back to normal & they were off trailing again.

See it all the time with my black lab I talked to my vet about it and come to find out this is common in most dogs and some cats.

Its a lab and he may have eaten something he wasn't supposed to.

My wife's Maltese started this about 2 years ago. Vet called it "White Shakers Syndrom." He has spells where he has a few a week and then nothing for a couple months. When he starts we let him do his thing and afterwards my wife wraps him in a blanket and holds him. It calms him down and then he's fine.

we have a Rat Terrier almost 15 that has them occassionally. Locked up, can't walk as you describe. lasts a few minutes, when its over she always takes a giant dump. makes me wonder if its something gastro or intestinal.
after that she is fine. its scary to watch though first time it happened we freaked out.
