dog has cancer

There's nothing they can do for my dog she has cancer!!! She's got a mouth- 6 months. But she is not in pain or suffering. They say she will let let us know when it's time to put her down!! It sucks cause she's 12 and been a family pet the last 5 year's. About to cry again!!

Sorry to hear that....

Sorry to hear that.. A friend of mine has a 11 yo lab and they found cancer on her upper femor... It was so bad they had to amputate her whole left hind leg... Now she's a 3 legged house dog!!!

My wife's grandmothers dog had cancer. They put it through chemo for a while.

Wish I had that option!! Cemo or radiation is the only choice and it would be shelshes to put her thro that with only a 10% it works.

Sorry to hear that! She obviously has been blessed with a great life with an owner who loves her very much.

Loneshark 03-11-2013 10:33 PM

Man, I am sorry to hear that. We had to put down our 14 yr old lab last year due to a tummor on her liver. It is a tough decision (had me crying like a baby in my office for two days) but she will let you know when it is time to say good bye.

If you decide you can't stand coming home to a house without a dog like I did. Keep in mind that a puppy is gong to be nothing like your mature dog. They have alot more energy. LOL

Sorry Bro, Had to put my 12 year old lab down about 9 mo. ago. Still miss her alot.Although the new pup is keeping us busy.

Sorry to hear that. Dogs are like Humans!

Hate to hear that, our dog is like our first born son. 12 years is a good run and I am sure there were some great memories:)

wetaline 03-12-2013 10:00 AM

Went through that same thing with our dog last year. She was 11 years old. It was pancreatic cancer. Did surgery, but it came back a few months later. Still miss her like crazy. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Very hard to let them go. We had to say good buy to our JRT of 13yrs last November. Lymphoma, the knots came up under his neck like over night. Took him to the vet and 3 days later we got the sad news. Same as yours, he wasn't in pain, the vet said take him home and love on him. He began a rapid weight lose. After 4 weeks we knew it was time to say good bye. Waited a few months to let things settle down a little. We "rescued" a Miniture Schnauzer last month so things a getting back to normal around here. Hang in there, your in our thoughts.

Well it was her time today. Thought I was ready for it but wasn't.

Finfeatherfur 03-18-2013 01:55 PM

Sorry brother - take some time outside and relive the memories, nothing we will say on SC will make it easier. Just know that she is not suffering.

Salty 03-18-2013 01:57 PM

Sorry to hear it, man. I know what you're dealin' with.

swamp snorkler 03-18-2013 02:13 PM

Sorry to hear that.

I know its not a dog but my wife and i had to put her cat down, 12 years old, 2 days before our honeymoon last summer. We are still upset...

Make sure to do some fun stuff with your dog, it'll make you feel better when the time comes.

From Reading Andy's post I think "the time" was today.

Hate to hear about this. It doesn't make it easier but 12 years with a good family is really as good as it gets for a pup. Sounds like he was one lucky dog to have such a caring owner.

Loneshark 03-18-2013 03:12 PM

Sorry to hear man. I will pray for your family.
