Great Trout Bite!

No April fooling yesterday as the early morning trout bite was off the charts with fast & furious action! It was my pleasure to fish with Roy Landry and his crew. On my boat I fished with Louis Landry III, Louis Landry IV, Dana Landry and Perry Acosta. Capt Gerald Ellender fished with Roy Landry and Steve & Terry Giroir. It was great to see the Giroir brothers as they were old school mates of mine back in the 70's. We iced up 52 fish quickly as my crew didn't mess around! They were catching fish before I had the trolling motor down. It was a clinic with double and triple trout slamming on bunker & blueback swimbaits as the fish were thick under the finger mullets. The tide switched about an hour after daylight and the bite tapered off. We made another move picking up another 20 nice trout and struck out at a few more stops before calling it a day before the noon hour. Beautiful fish in the 16-18 inch range as they looked like they all came out the same mold. Capt Gerald and his crew tallied around 40 trout as the VU DU shrimp worked its magic on the yellowmouths. A very good day of fishing for this fun bunch of guys as they really caught some nice trout. Some of the crew retreated back to Roys camp to enjoy an afternoon fish fry and it was great to see them back chasing the trout this morning. Big thanks to Roy for setting up the trip. Good luck fishing.
