Good old fashioned gaspargoo. You can cut that up and sell it for crawfish bait. Not good for much else though.

Makes the best courtbouillon. Better than catfish.

Same as a water red fish or drum . Just smaller.

Most people that say this will eat redfish all day long. It makes me laugh

Goooh 04-24-2013 08:08 AM

Not too bad, it ain't redfish for sure! I won't keep em.

Duck Butter 04-24-2013 08:37 AM

Top Dawg and Feesherman are gou aficionados, seen em in pics where they go target them wearing cutoff jorts:grinpimp:

Never eaten one, but they have to taste like redfish

fishaholic82 04-24-2013 08:38 AM

We've always made patties with them.Just like with garfish. Its good eating IMO

MarshRat89 04-24-2013 08:46 AM

Not too many "REAL" coonasses will turn em down in a gravy.

You're right. The cold moving spring water we catch them in makes them less fishy than their saltwater cousins.

For the record I don't eat redfish either, but It makes for excellent trading material. i have some older retired neighbors that love them, my window seals stay full of fresh tomatoes and the freezer is full of okra and beans. I don't eat drum, salt or fresh water. There's much better fish in the water. Attachment 49577Attachment 49578Attachment 49579
