Interesting Situation
 

So here is the situation I'm in at this moment. First, I'm getting married in a month to the best woman I know. She's never quit on me or let me quit on anything when I wanted to, especially my school. Which brings me to #2, in less than 3 weeks, I will be graduating with my Master's Degree. This was my ultimate goal when I decided to go into Wildlife Management 6 years ago. So you're probably saying, "what's the problem"? Well.....

As I said, we are getting married in a little over a month (mid-June). I am also currently applying for other, better paying positions, none of which are in the Lake Charles area (closest is Lafayette). And to top it off, my apartment lease is up this month and auto-renews for 6 months. So, I am stuck trying to figure out what to do at this point.

Anyone know of any month-to-month apartments around the Lake Charles area? Can't afford to get into a 6 month lease and have to pay the whole thing off if I get another job in Laffy or BR.

Explain the situation to your apartment manager. Be polite, positive and let them know you have been a good tenant. Ask them to allow you to go month to month with 30 days notice. If they agree, get it in writing.

Read your leese, I believe there will be an escape clause if you relocate more than x miles from that location. Second, discuss with management they have seen this before. If you have been a good tenant they will work with you but read leese beforehand.

Let your potential new employer know your situation. They may help compensate for the living arangements. Good people are hard enough to find!!!! I have known companies pay for the move and buy their homes to get them in town working sooner. Just a thought.

Do not do this.... At leastdo not do it until they have already made you an offer and are waiting on you to accept or reject the offer.

Do not under any circumstance do this until you have an offer.

maybe check on the monthly rate hotels? could be like an extended honeymoon

Yeah, and most of the jobs I have applied for are government positions. That rarely happens with the government.

Oh and to Raymond's comment--I have read the lease, and there is nothing to that effect in it. That would be great if there was.

Nok worries I just wanted to make sure he knew, it may already be a done deal. You advice is good once he has an offer and they may very well help him.

Talked with my landlord just now. She said I can go to a month-to-month situation. WIN! How it would just be nice if I didn't even have to do that. Come on baby, Daddy needs a new job!!! :rotfl::help: lmao

Usually if you fulfilled the first lease you signed. They will let you out of the auto renew one if you give them notice. The may charge a little more for the rent till you leave though.

Probably going to have to sign something new if and when it comes to that anyway, because my fiancee is not listed on the current lease as a resident. But I will definitely get something in writing. I have to send her something for the records indicated that we spoke on the subject and that I will not renew my 6 month lease and will go to a month-to-month lease.
