Prop?

I recently changed the prop on my tohatsu 40. Now when I take off, if I'm not trimmed all the way down and accelerating the prop looses pull and sounds like its slipping. Is it possible that I put the thrust washer on the wrong way ?

Is it blowing out?

Clafleur 05-04-2013 02:48 PM

What do u mean blowing out?

Top Dawg 05-04-2013 02:50 PM

Like it isn't gripping the water

Clafleur 05-04-2013 02:51 PM

Looks right. Maybe there's not enough cup in your prop

Clafleur 05-04-2013 08:15 PM

Yes, it is blowing out

Top Dawg 05-04-2013 08:54 PM

Need more cup. What prop did u put on?

Clafleur 05-04-2013 09:13 PM

It's a power tech 12p, it's what the guy from power tech recommended when I called

Top Dawg 05-04-2013 09:16 PM

Sounds like you need more cup. Or your motor may be set too high for that prop

budndawn 05-04-2013 09:19 PM

Does it do it when you take off trimmed all the way down?

Clafleur 05-04-2013 09:25 PM

1/5 times trimmed all the way down it will do it.

budndawn 05-04-2013 09:28 PM

Sounds like its cavitating or not enough cup or pitch...I run a 14P on my 40....

budndawn 05-04-2013 09:28 PM

What did you run before

Clafleur 05-04-2013 09:32 PM

13p factory aluminum prop

Top Dawg 05-04-2013 09:34 PM

I run a 14 also on my tohatsu 40. What size boat it running on?
