We were in the marsh near lake author trying to kill it. If my ranger would have been lifted I would have had no problem. The grass would hook me up.

Yes, its called giant cutgrass or southern wildrice (Zizaniopsis miliacea). Its good as long as its not everywhere like it appears to be on that place. It takes up a lot of space but the seeds are good for waterfowl. Here is a link to seeds found in ducks

It takes up the entire pond. I don't think a black bird could land in it. I think we might clean out most of it. If it is just cut down or buffaloed will it come back?

It has similar root structure to cattails so it will need at the very least some disking to help control it, you may be able to find some help online to control it under moist-soil management
