Stuck in the camp waiting for the rain to pass so I can fish for a couple hours till the next storm hits so I'll post a report. So far we have caught around 130 trout plus a bunch of throwbacks. Hot bait for me has been the tko shrimp everyday. Lots of people catching on live shrimp Carolina rigged too. Lot of 2-3lb fish coming to the docks also which if you know where to go this time if year is normal. I have been concentrating in areas less than a 10 min boat ride from sand dollar marina. But I have heard of good catches from the beach and 4 bayou area when the weather allows. Got a couple more days then I got to come home. Here's a a few pics from the past week.

Hey Meaux, how long you been up here? We got in lat night around 3am. We were supposed to go offshore fishing this weekend but that got cancelled. We had the camp anyway so figured what the hell. We tried fishing this morning off the pier with no luck thus morning before the rain chased us out. I read about the live shrimp, any other tips for bank fishing?

Fish the canals along hwy 1 where they pass under the road. No clue if anything will be biting with all this wind and rain. Try to find the cleanest water possible. Use live bait or dead shrimp and you are bound to catch something.

Is Grand Isle good around mid to late July? I'll be going to my companies camp for the first time the week of July 21st and its right on the Jetties on the west side of the island. Should I bring my 15' boat to putter around in or just piddle around on the bank/surf?

Yes the fishing is good. I would bring the boat. It lets you have more options. Late July is sometimes hard to catch on plastics, especially if you have never been, so you should get some live bait. Fish the passes, the beach, and behind the island. You wont have to run very far.
