HDS 5

What cards are the best to use in the HDS 5. Had a garmin 545 before this one and the details were way better in the garmin with just the factory maps.

How much are the Navionics chips? I'm in the market for a new GPS/chart plotter unit for my boat since my Garmin is about done.

Navionics are great chips. The are very high detail. When I zoom in I can see my house. I'm not sure where you fish but the thing that sucks is Louisiana is cut in half. If I remember correctly the line is from around cocodrie back to Galveston to the west and cocodrie to Florida on the east.

That really sucks. I mostly fish big lake but I do make a trip or two out to the eastern part of the state to fish every now and then.

You just have to go into map options and select a different part of the GOM. It's a little bit annoying but no big deal
