North America on Discovery

Anybody else watched it Sunday night? It's a 7 part series on the discovery channel that just started this past Sunday (the 26th) Some amazing footage of animals in the wild.

Yes this was the second week of the show, my family and I love it.

Micah 05-28-2013 10:48 PM

I've watched the first two shows. Last one I saw was with the eagles attacking the snow geese, eating it and than playing catch with its head while flying around.

ckinchen 05-28-2013 10:51 PM

The first week had two back to back and this week was just one.

bjhooper82 05-29-2013 06:23 AM

Damn, my bad, I thought it started this past Sunday. I missed the first one then.

I watched it last night. New favorite show. The footage those videographers got is incredible

I wonder how long it took to film and edit all that. Had to be a couple years or so.

If it's anything like Planet Earth, then I bet it took longer than just a couple. I think Planet Earth took them a decade or more to film. Is it similar to the Planet Earth series? That is one of my all-time favorite Discovery Channel series. Got the DVD set at the apartment.

Top Dawg 05-29-2013 07:46 AM

Planet earth musta been the one I saw. It was awesome

Smalls 05-29-2013 07:48 AM

Planet Earth had several different episodes based on different habitats. Deep Oceans, Shallow Seas, Temperate Forests, Rainforests, Great Plains, Mountains, and Desert. Might have been another one or two in there, but those are the ones I remember. Shallow Seas and Rainforests are my favorite ones.

Just like planet earth but all about North America.

If i am not mistaken in the first episode it said 5-7 years for the making of the vidoe.

Micah 05-29-2013 07:53 AM

Tom Selleck is the narrator.

That's crazy! Takes someone with some serious patience!

I cant rememeber how long it was, but the Birds of Paradise Episode for Planet Earth took a very long time to capture those birds dancing... guys pulled 16hr shifts in a tent and camo to try and film those birds. Watch the making of the Mountain Goat episode... the weather they endured is nuts.

Top Dawg 05-29-2013 08:17 AM

That's crazy. Definitely takes a special breed to give that much of their time but they do turnout some amazing footage and I enjoy it

Smalls 05-29-2013 08:26 AM

Yeah, these guys go to extremes to get this footage. I tell you, I wouldn't turn my nose up at that opportunity IF I didn't have a family here. They get to see some amazing things in this world that not many people get to experience IN PERSON. As much as I enjoy these shows, I would love to experience some of these things in person.

I hear ya, but think it would probably be like marlin fishing X 1000 minus the crew: weeks, maybe months of nothing happening, planning and re-planning a shot in isolation before getting a chance at it.

latravcha 05-29-2013 06:28 PM

I love it so far
