Warn 2.5 solenoid needed

I'm in desperate need of a solenoid for a warn 2.5 (2500)lb winch. Its the block that sits on the back of the bike. Anyone got one laying around I can take off your hands? Called 4-wheeler shop, lady said $125+++ for one. If not, I'll go with a come-along on the front.

i am not sure but I was able to find one for a golf cart at an automotive shop for around 30 bucks. Is it the one that only lets the winch work when the ignition is on? if not post the part number on the solenoid and I can check for you.

Man I wish I woulda known, I just sold my bike a couple months ago with everything on it except the winch, I woulda gave you everything.

Yeah. Winch has 4 studs for red, black, yellow, and blue wire and 2 smaller wires coming out of one side. Its a block about 3"X5". I'll go out and get part number if needed.

cabwiz2 10-27-2009 11:51 AM

That would help

Jordan, a little FYI, when or if you get a new solenoid, make sure it is not engaging when you turn your key switch on. Many of the dealerships wire them this way, as long as your key switch is on the solenoid will be engaged & eventually wears out the solenoid. I rewired about 10 bikes at my camp for other guys that were having this problem. The solenoid should only kick in when you hit the button, don't have a clue why they were wiring through the key switch???? & this was from different dealships & different makes of bikes........

cabwiz2 10-27-2009 12:51 PM

I know some of them do it to prevent the winch from working when the switch is not on.

Thats probably the main reason, but it needs to be wire that only when the button is pushed it sends power to the solenoid, the way that they had it was anytime key switch was on it had power to it. I said solenoid was engaged meant it had power to it. If it's wired that way you can hear it click every time you turn on the key switch.

cabwiz2 10-27-2009 12:59 PM

Yeah ,but when do people at dealerships do what they are supposed to do?

Jordan 10-27-2009 01:00 PM

It only clicks when I hit the "in" or "out" switch on my rocker remote on the handlebars. Every now and then, it works. It never works when I need it. I don't know what color wires go to which terminal either. The wires rusted off and fell off. The solenoid is the last one on the "recall link" that cab posted

Call this # 225 654 9342 T-Racks, They have tons of used parts. If they have one, I can pick up for ya & get it to you.

Jordan 10-27-2009 01:21 PM

Just called them to make sure wiring is right and it is. No used parts. New one is $100+ think I'll just do without. I can touch the black and blue and my winch rope comes out and I touch black and yellow and it goes in. Its gotta be the solenoid
