Threats

Saturday night me and my bud head out to fish lights in Old Settlement but with the traffic, ended up down at Hebert's. Paddle south and hit the lights in front of that big a$$ camp set way back from the water. Bud let's one get away from him and tags the dock, paddles over to retrieve his mirrordine and a voice from the dark instructs him to "get away from the dock or I'll come down there with my pistol and shoot you". Does anyone know who owns this camp? Would you consider this a threat to do deadly harm without provocation? Pretty sure the owner thinks he is untouchable but that's a fallicy today, nobody is untouchable.

I'm not a lawyer or criminal justice major, but from what I understand, unless he thought his life was being put in danger by your buddy, he has no justification to use deadly force i.e. "come down there and shoot you".

Why do people insist on being Aholes!!!!? I am so tired of dealing with people that think the world owes them something. Really, this guy is prepared to go to prison for shooting someone over a dang lure stuck on his dock! Really?

This would not go far if you called the law, but he is in the wrong. You can not shoot someone for being too close to your dock. You can not shoot someone for being in your yard. Their has to be intent to do bodily harm.

Right now, their is an officer in jail for shooting someone this weekend in a road rage incident. He claimed to "be in fear for the his life, or that of his family that was in the car". Sorry Charlie, not going to work - you pulled over on the side of the road and should have kept driving.

Hate to hijack but please start a new thread and go into further detail on this story.

Also cant shoot someone if they are fleeing. Ray the situation sucks but like he said...wouldn't go far at all if you called the law

Pull the camp up on Google Maps and mark it for us :D

I cant see where he had any "rights" to make the threat, that said he may have been hammered and drunk enough to put a couple of shots across your bow

P.O.S. to say the least

flounder_smacker 06-10-2013 05:56 PM

he was talking to you on a intercom system. you wont believe how many people will motor in, tie up get on dock and start fishing lights. the main reason we dont keep ours on when we are not there. we would find beer cans and trash people leave. he saw your buddy getting close and thought he would give a warning. saying he was going to shot yall prob wasnt the best thing to say but dealing with the trash who will fish off another mans dock wont take the hint with a kind warning.

How y'all make y'all avatars big like dat

BigErn 06-10-2013 07:56 PM

The more I think about it...I understand that these people on the lake have to deal with all sorts, to say the least. But I wasn't causing any trouble, just trying to retrieve my bait. Wasn't too keen on being threatened, but wasn't about to call someone's bluff. The main thing that gets me...If you are calling out from a stationary house/camp to someone in a mobile boat, do you know anything about them? Do you know how to find them? Well...the person in the boat knows how to find you! Not that I would do anything stupid like the guy in the house apparently would, but it's something to think about next time you get pissed at someone fishing on the lake...
