Lake Warner question
Has anyone been to Lake Warner lately?
Can this lake still be accessed, I have not been there in years and was thinking about going this week. Any fishing reports would be appreciated. |

I think the minimun river level to get back there is something like 9 feet. I got no idea if the canal is open or blocked by trees. The only time I went back there was when the river was really high, and the water was flooded back in the trees. I did not catch anything. |
Warner
Warner probably won't start up until the river is around 10'. Went last year and the "ditch" was passable. Whenever you do go be real careful in the "ditch". There are plenty of bad stumps. You need to idle much of the way to be safe.

My dad went in there just to see what it looked like a few months ago, he didn't really fish if I remember right, but he got in

Where is this lake at. Is it the one behind the airport?
|
No airport right there. It's in the basin.

Got it. I'll look for it on line.

The atchafalaya river splits into the Whiskey Bay Pilot Channel and the Little Atchafalaya; Lake Warner is on the island that is created by this split. If you launch at Butte Larose public launch and go south in the river; there is access on the west side through pretty much a ditch about 3/4 mile long. Make sure to check it out on goole earth first.

Sorry google.

When you leave the Butte La Rose landing, follow the left bank going down stream. At about 3 mile there is the butte La Rose cutoff. The lake Warner ditch is about 2+ miles farther down. Any of you guys ever fished Little Lake area? Always wanted to go back there, but figured I needed to ride with someone that knew how to get there. Years ago, I use to hear how good the fishing was back there. |
Sorry your right. Thanks for catching that.

Never fished little lake. We used to fish Rycade a lot, but the grass and lillies have taken over. Cow island is pretty good when you hit it right. Super clear though.
