Boat admittance into the refuge is permitted from one hour before legal sunrise until one hour after legal sunset; however, recreational fishing, crabbing, and cast netting activities are prohibited until legal sunrise and after legal sunset.

You can if you like prison time!!!

Also during the shrimp run they had 3 undercovers that were sitting on the bank and wrote about 35 tickets in a week for people throwing castnets, fishing lines and crab lines in water before legal sunrise

passage

jchief 06-24-2013 12:37 PM

first weir

what is the name of the first wier from heberts?

YellowMouth7 06-24-2013 02:48 PM

buddies went Friday afternoon and stayed back there after dark some time before midnight a LDWF officer walked out on the wier and told them to come back through the wier to the lake and get their ticket. Tide was pulling hard from the marsh into the lake and when they approched the wier to exit the marsh the motor died and the current pulled them sideways pining them against the wier. the current was so strong it actually pulled the boat under the water. they were able to climb up onto the wier and hang out with the LDWF agent until the tide slacked enough for them to drag the boat through and pump out the water........BAD DEAL.........................so lesson here dont go back there after dark, dont let others drive your boat, ware your life jacket. everyine was ok but he lost his 4 stroke, 3 rods and reels a yeti and a K2, and a good nights sleep. He gained a valuable lesson and a ticket.

So if anyone finds a yeti floating around in the lake, it has an 8lb trout in it they were going to weigh in for the star :-)

BTW let me know if yall find his icechest

Lake Chuck Duck 06-24-2013 03:29 PM

I wonder if since they were fishing illegally, their fish would have been confiscated, including the 8#.

Fish could not have been weighed into the STAR tournament since it was caught illegally. Would have been disqualified

That sucks man, glad they made it out alright though

on a lighter note:

that trout will be fine for upwards of a month if that Yeti was pre-chilled and the ice was frozen from inside out:)

There seems to be a lot of wrong in this story. Glad everybody was ok though.

So since the fish was caught with plenty of daylight left it would be illegal?

Chances are if boat wouldn't have sank, then game wardens would have confiscated fish, crabs or shrimp leaving the weirs since boat was back there illegally after dark. If you catch shrimp or crabs over limit behind weirs they confiscate both. Would of been hard to prove fish was caught with daylight left when warden busted boat many hours after daylight. Would have been interesting scenerio. STAR rules state all participants and fish must comply with rules and regulations of state governing body. Since your buddy was ticketed illegally behind a restricted area it would have been interesting.

And Dink- fish has to be hooked by angler on conventional rod, hook and line exclusively, doubt hooking the chest would qualify.

As stated yes it is still a illegal fish because once you break the sundown mark everything becomes illegal
As stated it would of been taken and probably another ticket for taking fish after sundown

redaddiction 06-24-2013 09:50 PM

I guess in America, You're no longer innocent until proven guilty. Do the wardens just say it was caught after dark and it is so? They have no proof either way

Top Dawg 06-24-2013 09:54 PM

I bet the skeeters was bad
