anybody have a newer explorer?

Thinking about buying one. I was gonna get a truck but then im just gonna want to lift it. Biggest boat ill be towing is a 18 bay boat. I know the older ones were good but the newer have the independent rear suspension which worries me. Also being a unibody now too. Just lookin for some feedback from 2004- present

I had a buddy that had a 2011 or somewhere in that neighborhood and he didn't have any complaints but he's a city boy and doesn't tow or anything like that

I've been thinking about an SUV for my next vehicle and I like the Tahoe, but they are just so much more expensive than a truck, I don't think ill ever do it for that reason .. I just can't really justify the extra money when a truck is more practical for me

you can get that 3.5 ecoboost in the new explorers... I've seen a few pulling 19-21' bay boats. Its the same engine that's in the f150 so I don't see why you'd have trouble pulling anything

My Sister in law has one, really nice vehicle. If you not towing more than 4,000 lbs on a regular basis I don't think you would have a problem.

We have 2 new ones (Police Package) at the department I work at. So far, no issues but both have less than 10K miles on them. Both have the V6 Ecoboost engine like my F-150. If you drive normal, you will like it. Very good ride and handling is impressive.

I don't drive normal.................and all that hype of fuel economy goes out the window when you break 70mph! LOL, I drive hard, and use it hard.

I drive like a grandpa. I barely ever see the speed limit. being as young as I am it aggravates a lot of people who ride with me lol. im mainly wanting one for better mpg. I know the ecoboost has a lot of power my main concern is just then new platform of the explorer. no longer a solid rear axle so I didn't know how that effected towing. most it will ever tow is probably 2500lbs

Just for gits and shiggles check out the GLK250. Tow capacity of 3500 lb. And it's a diesel.
