Coastal Racoon
1 Attachment(s)
Never seen this before. I was fishing the Cameron Jetties this past Saturday. Noticed something on the rocks and there was a racoon. It was on the outside of the cut so it did a little swimming to get there. Thought is was pretty neat. It was looking for small clams of stuff to eat I am guessing.
|
Took me a while to spot him
|
I still don't see him... I see something a little blurry in the middle... Raccoons are pretty brave though, I've seen them on some of the islands by the trash pile in V. Bay before. Had to swim a good ways before reaching land
|
Dang, I finally just saw him. Rather that puting my face close to the screen to find him I got real far back and saw it immediately.
|
Yup, backing away from the screen is the trick. I saw it right away when I did that.
I saw a coyote on the rocks one day, he wasn't scared at all. |

I flipped the screen right side up, blew it up to 400% and stood on top my desk behind my work station and i still don't see no coon

I saw a racccoon out in the marsh in Port Sulpher once. Dude was perched up on top of a "Do not anchor or dredge" sign. There was some sawgrass about 200 yds away but, that was it for several miles. Came back by an hour or so later and, he was gone.
Pretty crafty and, adventurous critters! |

seen coyotes way back in the marsh before and also see em on Choupique Island at Big Lake |
I didn't see the deer but I did see deer tracks on a ridge in the middle of the marsh behind Dulac.

LCD, good job on making it clearer. I was a little ways from the little fellow. And the Iphones don't zoom very well.
I was fishing with a biologist and he called it a "Coastal Racoon". Said the coloring is different from the ones we see regularly due to the amount of sun. |

They're all over in Grand Isle. Don't leave your fish heads out or garbage w/ food in the bags because they'll leave a big mess for sure.
