Anybody had one built or bought one of those 595 garages....looking at getting a new boat in the near future.....end of the year....prolly a 20-22 footer...so 30' long....tell me what u bought or built...thx in advance...

No advice on the shed but what boat are you getting??

cduhon 06-27-2013 10:26 PM

I looked at one years ago. Packages start off cheap but to build it right with support, brackets, anchors and to raise it little higher was triple the price. Made of very thin metal and poles. Be better off buying you a kit from local metal outlet with good metal and poles for little more money but much better material.

I was in the same situation a few months back, I had one put up that was 20 X 31 for around $1700. I could have built my own but for the money and time it was easier and more cost effective to let them do it. I went thru a place in Sulphur to get mine, but you can go direct to Carolina Carports online, they install most of them. It took them 45 minutes to build a 20X31 carport. I had the slab poured a few weeks before they built it. Its a great cover for the price.

Spinna, you looking for a car port style or a closed in style? I feel like a boat will still get filthy sitting in one thats not all the way closed in.

alphaman 06-28-2013 07:51 AM

Mine doesnt get dirty at all, and the sun doesn't touch the boat.

The other pic. His camper stays clean and only thing is a little water on the front and back from the rain.. but thats expected..

Had this one built last year after debating the "fly by nights" (quote from a buddy in the metal buisness). Glad I waited, saved some funds and went this route.

I bought a 12'x21' Carolina Carport and put it on a skid. Closed in the sides with wood and put a roll up door all for around $2,500. Its not as strong as purlins and the works, but for what I needed the thing is SOLID and came out cheaper than what my cousin, who buiilds metal buildings for a living, could even get the materials for. When I went to him with my numbers, he said I would be stupid not to go the route that I did.
