Tripletail Size and Creel limit changes

The LDWF Commission Meeting was held today in Baton Rouge.

The following items were discussed:

1. Roll Call

2. Approval of Minutes of June 6, 2013

3. Commission Special Announcements/Personal Privilege

4. To Hear Enforcement & Aviation Reports/June

5. To Consider Notice of Intent Scenic River Rules and Regulations

6. To Consider Notice of Intent 2014 Wild Turkey Season Dates, Rules and Regulations

7. To Consider a Declaration of Emergency for Early Migratory Game Birds and Special Teal Season

8. To Hear General Notice of 2013-2014 Waterfowl Season Tentative Dates

9. To Discuss Establishing Recreational and Commercial Size and Creel Limits on Tripletail

10. Set November 2013 Meeting Date

11. Receive Public Comments

I find this to be BS. I remember a lengthy thread about this a couple years ago and was wondering if people still felt the same way?

So I'm gathering it was just a meeting of the minds and nothing was set yet..

ckinchen 07-02-2013 09:49 PM

Tried already BIG FAIL

Your talking about a fish that is seasonal and is targeted very few days a year

Doesn't matter, there's no biological evidence to support a limit of any kind. They just making up the frickin rules as they go? Reminds of 15 trout per person.

But that right there is gonna be their argument I guarantee. "We'll people don't catch many anyways. Lets drop the limit to 3". Ex: mottled duck limit.

True there is no biological evidence. Perhaps their discussion at the meeting will include the study they will conduct to see if a limit is warranted. Perhaps not. But right now everyone is just assuming that they will hit us with a limit with no basis.

We are talking about the state not NOAA, sea grant , nmfs or gomfmc witch figured the federal limits and obviously don't know what they are doing. Pretty sure they are just taking a look. It might be a good thing. The feds could close them down at anytime. The state is prob getting some info together to have some ammo for the Feds. Look at what has happened to Aj, snapper, redfish, gags, and triggerfish.
