Big Lake 11-03-09

Myself, Rakedlake, and his buddy hit Heberts at 6:00am this morning. Was choppy and got a little calmer thru the day. We left a little after 1:00pm. We got 35 specs, 14 whities, and 6 reds. All caught on plastics and mostly under birds! Glad a 4 stroke Yamaha has good fuel economy.....we ran 75 miles (counting what we trolled) and burned 17 gallons! Sorry no pics!

Good trip for those conditions today. Sorry I missed you at the landing but we will catch each other one day

Sounds like a pretty good day on the water to me! Gotta love those 4 stroke Yammies, that will DEFINATELY be my next motor. I have a 2 stroke Yamaha right now.

SULPHITE 11-03-2009 09:40 PM

Good job man!!;)

all star rod 11-03-2009 09:40 PM

On my other boat I had a HPDI Yamaha......nice motor but I rather the 4 Stroke. That 150 4 stroke is a horse....

Great catch bro...not to bust your bubble, but the mercury optimax gets even better fuel mileage with alot more low and midrange power.I love yamahas, but mercury got the best fuel mileage on the market.:smokin:

:*****::*****::*****:This will get my buddy going

It is what it is....I am a hardcore yamaha fan, dont get me wrong, but the optimax sips the fuel. I've been around boats my whole life,my dad is a outboard mechanic and I work on them as well. I would have to say that yamaha is the more reliable motor, but they both break. I personally can't own a four stroke being around 2 strokes for so long...you just cant get the low and mid range power like a 2 stroker, period.

CapnD I figured you would like that post!!! What is that saying: If you want a motor to race to the repair shop get a MERC and if you want a motor to fish get a YAMAHA.
Sorry, no way a 150 Opti will get better fuel economy than an 150 4 stroke Yamaha. I could see the OPTIs getting more than the HPDI's......

Salty I know.....I do not take pics...POX had to give me a 5 minute lesson on how to use his camera on SUN.
