Shimano sedona is 60 bucks and a great reel for the money. I have 2 symetre's and one sahara and they are both great reels.

I mostly use falcon and castaway.I prefer the 2500 or 3000 size with 20lb stren sonic braid. I keep 2 ugly stick lite inshore rods with sedona 2500 on em for my brothers to use. They are careless with rods and they hold up.

Sedona 2500 is on a 7' falcon Coastal medium

Sahara 3000 is on a 7' Okuma C3, this feels a lot better than the above - its my wife's, I find myself trying to trade... Very light, sensitive and smooth.

I have a penn battle 2000. It was soaked and washed after every use. 5 months old and the gears are locking up from corrosion. I expected more from a Penn and a $100 dollar reel.

Just like plueger and a few other companys that were bought by pure fishing (berkley) they are not the quality as the previous models.

:work:If you soak the reel in water it has no place to go but inside
no reel will take a water wash without getting in the bearings &
gears. A good wipe down with a damp towel is all that is needed.

Forgot to mention the new sahara and symetre's suck. With the compact design the bail hits your knuckles while reeling. Don't understand why shimano keeps getting rid of a good design.

So I shouldn't give my reels freshwater baths after exposure to saltwater?

I have a penn battle no problems $100

Clampy 09-01-2013 12:01 AM
