kayaking in the Gulf

Every now and then I see a video of kayakers fishing close to a rig and having fun hauling in some nice fish. Have any of you ventured out to a close set of rigs and fished? If so, what was it like? It seems as if it would be adventurous but the conditions must be right and one must proceed with caution with safety being the number one issue.

There are more guys doing this who post at Pensacola Fishing Forum than the LA or Texas forums.

Just don't hook a AJ close to a rig. You will be in trouble !

Be fun in open water but you will be inspecting BOPs in no time if you hook him close to a platform.
