Not a good day

This trip had been changed from Tuesday to Monday because the seas would be better. The day started out good and we were getting bait with ease. Once loaded up with bait we headed to the rigs. The first bait in was eaten almost immediately and we were on the board.

Out there early and first in the box in less than 15 minutes from the time I slowed down the engines. Gonna be a good day. We spent the next 2 1/2 hours and kept getting bit off by toothy critters and did land 1 barracuda. Found out later that our "Good bait" was not what they were looking for. We had "tuna crack" and the fish were looking for bigger bait. I moved 8 miles to another rig and found the sharks very thick. I moved to another rig and the bonito would not let our bait alone. Decided to go in and pick up some AJs and call it a day. That is where our day went down the tubes. Hit 3 rigs that I always do good at. I jigged and dropped live bait and butterfly baits.

These were so thick I never had anything like an amberjack on. I did get an almaco jack but that was it. Started out good and went down hill from there. If I spent the full day at the first stop I may have gotten a few more but after 2 hours of nothing the customer asked to go to another place. Just a Monday morning thought. Shoulda, woulda, coulda!!!

No bragging rights but still a report.

Fishing is not a matter of life or death. It's more important than that.
