Heavy Metal

Has anyone used this? is it worth it? I will be hunting mainly specks this year and I have not heard anything but good about these shells...that being said, I have not heard heard a whole lot either...are the worth the price over something like Kent Fasteel?

Spunt Drag 09-18-2013 09:41 AM

They're great but also very expensive. Not worth the $$$ to me but I don't have much of it.

That is all I use. Go to mackspw.com and buy the case with the $25 rebate. Best price I have been able to find. Kicks like you are shooting lead!

Kent = best shell for the $

AubreyLaHaye458 09-18-2013 11:00 AM

I used em and wasn't impressed. I had just good results with Kents or Federals as I did with the heavy metal. Not to mention the price difference.

X2 started using Kent's 4yrs ago and never turned back. They make hens bounce what more could u want?

Clampy 09-18-2013 11:37 AM

I love heavy metals but for the money there isn't that much of difference with the Kent's. I usually buck everything b Gizzle tells me but he isn't wrong about kent.

Yeah I have been shooting kents for a few years and I like them....I was just thinking a little extra umph might be good for geese.

No doubt. The shoot fast. Fast enough I had to adjust a good bit when I switched back to kent

I'm also part of the kent club. Whatever you do stay away from estates. I have two different buddies that split there barrels because a wad got caught. I was in the blind when one of these blew up. The rail came all the way back and split his forehead open.

Slidellkid 09-18-2013 01:42 PM

Dang,

I bought a bunch of estates on sale, now I know why they were cheap!

I actually had that happen a couple years ago...I was shooting some Remington dove loads, But I was able to just cut the end of my barrel off and have it re-threaded.

I shot em plenty of times before, and know people that still do. After it happened a second time to another buddy, I said F that.

I've started shooting Kents through my patternmaster. It is impressive. That choke is one of the best purchases I have made for duck hunting.

How long ago you bought it? Reason I ask is bc the knobs on inside were too big for flight controlled wads. I believe they changed the style up in the past yr or so. No issue with Kent's but just a heads up. I'm impressed with barettas ext chokes. Clampy... Keep adjusting till you stop wounding animals...lol ;)

I bought it before last teal season. It says in the package not to use with shells over a certain FPS
