That'll happen when it dont rain for a month or so. Dont worry about It.No grass mowin leaves more time for fishing :)

Water normally helps it stay green from what I've seen.

Chich bugs or fungus. St Augustine gets affected more. Not saying urs is cu idk. I take pride in my yard so I've done research. Watering during the day or too much will burn it. Mine stays green green. U have my number call me if you have any questions. I'm headed home from hackberry ill be awhile

Chinch bugs. Powder laundry detergent and lots of watering. Just fought them off myself.

Top Dawg 09-18-2013 08:08 PM

Most likely a fungus. Or needs to be aeriated. Like gizzle said. Water too much will rot the roots also. May need to have someone test it for you to let u know for sure. Once you find out should be an easy fix. My dad had the fungus and also had to aeriate.

That's brown patch. Usually shows up at this time. Spray the affected areas with a fungicide and it will control it. You can get it at Lowe's or Home Depot.

Only thing cane farmers will be spraying right now is fungicide.

Heck I wish I had the $ to concrete my whole yard. Paint it green, sell the mower, buy fishing gear with the $ and kick back. I hate grass. A long time ago some guy invented a lawn mower but couldnt sell it so he convinced people to plant grass in their yards. The grass grew and the mowers started selling like crazy. Smart dude but I still wana kick his azz for that.lol

probably chinch bugs. Havent received enough rain or dont have enough moisture for it to be disease (unless you irrigate a lot and I mean every day; if you do irrigate, irrigate early in the morning instead of late in the evening). I work with this everyday and have seen it a lot lately.... usually starting in August, chinch bugs will start doing damage... especially in dry periods. It usually starts next to roads, driveways, sidewalks and goes out from there (usually, but not all of the time). You can treat with something like Talstar, Sevin, Ortho Max Lawn and Garden Insect Killer, Maverick and Battle... all have good control.

Also dont cut your grass so short. Its something I have learned with grazing cattle. If you leabe your grass 3" long it will be healthier all year long due the root structure being healthier. It will be more resistant to fungus also. I have green grass in my yard and it hasnt rained any significant amount in a good while over here

^^^^ this is what I do^^^^^ keep it longer(3-4") and when I cut it I cut it higher than a push mower can cut. Then I blow all the clippings so they don't clump up n kill the grass underneath.
