Another prop question.
 

Ok so I ordered a 10.5 x 13p because I was turning 5250-5300 RPM with 10.5x14p. Well I guess the 14p I had was worn more than I realized and I'm at 5300 with 13p. It holds the water up about 3/4 trim. Dropping it half inch last time cause porpoising and lost 250. RPM. I can return prop for $30 restock and go down to smallest pitch in the line I'm running. Also if that doesn't get the RPM to 5500 I can raise motor 1/4" or so being I'm able to trim it out so far right now. Speed wise I actually gained 1.5 mph with smaller pitch. Guess cause the cup is new and fresh. Just looking for opinions

When your running does the water cover your cavitation plate completely or can you see it just above the water?

Plate is fully visible it's actually a bit above the water on edges. I think motor is set as close to perfect as I can get it, you can see plate no water spray. I'm getting 36.5 mph loaded running 5300 I was turning 5250 with old prop getting 34.6 mph. Unloaded I turned 5480 and got 36 with old prop. I'm gonna send new prop back Monday and get the 12p should get me close to 5500 max load. And I'll get old prop reworked so I can have a good spare.

You gained speed because that motor makes more torque at 5800 than 5100 rpm. Torque does the work, carries the load. The closer you get to that 5800, the more fuel efficient that motor will be, the more torque it makes.

So the pitch down should do the trick? I'm thinking if I come up any it'll be to much.

Came up 1/4" turning 5580 full out trim but harder than heck to hold the torque. Shooting rooster tail height of cowling and 37.3 mph I'm thinking I'm dropping back the 1/4" and going down in cup. The difference in torque is almost nonexistent.

That is a 50 right? Sounds like your rollin. Enjoy it.

Don't be worried so much about how much trim you can apply to the motor. If it takes just half the trim to get the bow up and and the boat in the right position then so be it. You don't need to hit 100% of your trim to be running right.

Thats what i was thinking, it's based on transom angle as long as i can get my bow up and down as needed and turn correct RMP at wide open throttle, I usually cruse around 4500-47-00 thats around 30-31 mph. I'm calling the place i ordered prop today to see about exchanging it. Thank you guys for input!
