100 lbs of shrimp
Is that even possible anymore? I can't remember the last time I heard of someone catching a 100 lb limit.

Seen after rita and when levee was blown, you would throw your cast net and it would not sink

The levee W is referring to was just southwest of lambert s bayou. It was about 50-75 foot wide and the years following Rita when the levee was breached were some of the best fishing we have had. It is behind these weirs where u can catch a ton of shrimp. Just not allowed over a 5 gal bucket per boat. Rockefeller refuge is another good spot as well as, but not quite as good, is Sabine refuge.

Ive personally filled up the whole back of my nissan truck one night while shrimping. I did have my commercial license also. Only took 3 hours. That was the first and last time I have ever seen that many shrimp. Had plenty of 300lb nights tho. All with a 6 foot cast net.

I dont know how many lbs a 7ft cast net will hold of solid shrimp but it took two guys to pull it in with only one cast ...they did it twice and rolled out..
