Is that one by the jaws? Or how you get to the jaws?

Yea, I have used the one behind bb field. I guess the one you are talking about is the one across the Teche.

yigodiver 10-22-2013 02:08 PM

Either one will get you to the Jaws, not from experience, but from good advice, North wind can make that place very shallow. When running, I mark 2 foot of water in some areas, makes be a bit nervous. Longer run, but I am not a fan of the Burns Point ramp, tough to turn around in and wind can make that place trouble to load up.

Yea I know what you mean..... I'm just starting to get familiar with everything. I just bought my first boat and I'm still learning.

yigodiver 10-22-2013 04:06 PM

Good to see that you caught all those reds, I like fishing around Burns Point, I work at Cabot and lots of friends fish down here so fairly easy to find out if anyone catching. It is tough fishing too, I have been skunked many times at BP, however never gave up starting to learn the area well, but still more to learn.

Anth0ny 10-22-2013 04:33 PM

The place I've been struggling with the most is VBay. That place gets me so discouraged it's frustrating. So I been venturing off to BP and trying out other places. But one another note, caught majority of the fish at point chevreuil.

Either landing will get you to the jaws. You start off in the bayou teche and take the canal to the right which puts you into the Baldwin cut. There is some good fishing just out the jaws.

Burns point area is my favorite place to fish, fished it all my life. That area has it's good days and bad just like v bay.

MathGeek 10-22-2013 06:26 PM

Be careful. The lower limit on black drum is 16". One of those fish looks "borderline." You might be more careful to measure in the future.

Anth0ny 10-22-2013 07:04 PM

Yes it does look a bit small in the pic. I did measure before hand it was borderline 16". It was also my first time keeping black drum I usually don't but the guy I was with wanted them.

yigodiver 10-22-2013 07:54 PM

I have learned Vbay well, but I had to get a bigger boat to get out to the places where I wanted to fish. Lately that has paid off. Over all for me cost is the same to fish either place, and I dont like to wait in line for folks to unload boat, so I try to get off the main stream as much as possible.
