Wooded Land and Selling Timber

Any of you have experience with this?

Any Local foresters you recommend for cruising a potential investment property?

Any tips for personally evaluating the stand prior to contacting a forester?

Only this; my dad and his brothers purchased a farm and used the timber to pay for the sale. Be very careful who you deal with, they can screw you out of literally thousands of $$ by underestimating the board feet. Wouldn't do it without plenty of references and they better all be good.

I have bought timber for a living for almost twenty years. The market is very poor right now. It's a bad time to be selling pine timber but not necessarily a bad time to buy land with timber if you have the money to sit on it.
