Trout bite at VB and BL, how much longer?

I'm kinda new to trout fishing during the fall. I used to do nothing but duck hunt this time of year, but I recently bought a bay boat and have fished VB a couple times recently with limited success. My question is, how much longer will the trout fishing be good at VB and BL? When are the best times? Couple days after a front comes through and the temps rise and wind from the South? Thanks in advance for any info.

the trout bite is picking up in the bay now. I have heard of people catching limits, but they are still eluding me. Cant seem to hit the optimum days, that whole "work" thing kinda gets in the way. from here on out the fish are in close. the Hammock, cove and mud point are good areas to start. but you want to stay near clean water since trout are sight feeders.

you will have to watch the wind around the fronts since VBay is so big it will get muddy with one day of good wind. If it muddies up, its usually around 3 days until it clears up again. Best is to check the satellite images it find the areas of clear water before heading out.

we have been hammering the specs everywhere in the bay!!!! 50 fish everytime we have gone...some days quicker then others with some of them being drag out all day grinds to get them though.

Thanks for the replies. Does the bite usually continue through November and December?

Yep...have to fish very slow once the water temp gets under 55 degrees though

Have a friend from Lake Charles who loves trout fishing in the winter. Has caught his 2 biggest trout (over 8 lbs.) in December or January in Big Lake. I just need to learn where the fish go during the cold months and how to catch 'em.
