House training questions

We have a dog that stays in the house and we are having trouble with her using the bathroom in the house instead of outside. She doesn't let us know when she needs to go so we have to let her out every so often. She is getting worse about going in the house. I've never house trained a dog, so any advice would be appreciated.

Gotta have a kennel...both my dogs were house trained within the first week or two and will not go inside...Google kennel training for housebreaking them. I can leave my dogs in the house for 8-12hrs and they will hold it til I get home.

Thanks guys, I'll look it up. The last dog we had would let you know when he needed to go and wouldn't go in the house at all. My wife is about to get rid of this one.

Once you crate train the dog should tell you when it wants to go...sometimes it gets to the point where its annoying but it beats cleaning up messes in the house.

X2 the young ones can't hold it as long though. We are gone most days 10 hrs at a time. We let both dogs out when we wake up when we get home and before we go to bed. My 3 yr old lab can hold it, but the Yorkie who's almost a year is maxed out at 10 hrs. We just keep a pad in the kennel he pees on when we're gone too long.
