Rain gear for fishing

What brand of rain gear do you have for yourself and kids. I'm looking for something for myself and my boys 9 and 8 years old.

Not looking to break the bank but some that will last.. thanks

Had a real nice buddy give me a pair of Bass Pro 100 mph rain suit for Christmas.

Frogg toggs or helly hanson... best on the market. I have been having my HH for 10+ years, fold up real small, not hot in the summer, and will keep you dry. The FT are also nice but not as breathable and do not fold up as small, but are more afordable.

Well, we hunted in the rain this morning, and I have a nice pricey set of Drake waterfowl gear pants and jacket rain suit. Ive only had it for about a year now. Needless to say I got soaked. I had 2 thick shirts underneath the jacket and they were soaked too. Had water running down my back, chest and arms. Sure glad it wasn't that cold this morning. Think I might write Drake and let them know.

Had the same thing, you gotta retreat them after some use and washing because the coating comes off. They aren't built water proof like frog togs, they are coated. Same goes for high end snow gear like marmott and Patagonia...

Well that's the thing. Ive hardly used this set. Ive basically only used it for a windbreaker on my boat, and its only about a year old, and hasn't been washed. Guess Ill be looking into the frog togs.

Just make sure whatever you get is breathable, or you just get soaked from sweat. My Frogg Toggs are nice but they are not very durable. I caught a sleeve on something and ripped it wide open.

Industrial size black garbage bags; push ya hands and head through and rock on. Cheap and convienent.
Those Academy suits look like a knock off of the Shimano rain gear. For the price, I would consider a set but save your reciept just in case.

for cold weather -- there is a lining in bibs and a fleece material in the top coat.

rain suit

I have a rain jacket and bibs by Cabela's for approx 5-6 years. Guide wear I think is what they are called. On the pricey side thou, if I remember $200.00 or so on sale. Been in pouring down rain and do not get wet.

specktator 01-22-2014 12:31 PM

You can find some pretty good deals on ebay on SIMMS gear. Got a $500 jacket that was discontinued for $250. Definitely the best rain jacket I own. Put it on over my waders when wading and you will stay dry. Frog Toggs work well too.

BassAssasin 01-22-2014 04:26 PM

i had the H2o and they worked ok, if you sit in water for too long your but will get a little wet. Pretty good buy for the price though
