Cinnamon Teal
In case you haven't seen a rare-to-Louisiana Cinnamon Teal here is a picture of one photographed in SW Louisiana recently. It is not as good as seeing it in person but it is the next best thing. :)

I have spent a lot of hours in the marshes of SW LA and seen a group of 5 about 25 year. Saw them just soon enough to pull a Buford T Justice - "Ooph". Then a single drake about 15 years ago wasn't quite so lucky and did not leave the decoys. Wasn't the prettiest, but still got mounted.

We see a few every now and then in the spring time when the teal are stacked up in the crawfish fields.

I killed one 4 years ago in Pecan Island on opening weekend. It was the lead bird in a flock of bluewings. Definitely the coolest bird I have shot to date.
|
Saw one at pintail wildlife drive about 4 or 5 years ago. Wonder if its the same one? That would be pretty crazy if it was.

Shot one last year. It was fairly close and 3 people all took a shot at it. Awesome bird but it was too tore up to mount.
