Tips and Tricks

Anyone have some advice to share? Not talking about directions to your honey hole or your killer bait, just general stuff to make outdoor life a little easier. Little things you figured out or learned from someone. This may have been done before and if so I apologize.

I'll start.
You ever had an ice chest that needed a serious cleaning? You fill it with bleach water and intend on coming back to wash it. You forget about it or just get too busy and by the time you get to it the water pressure has caused the box to swell some. Now the lid doesn't seal worth a dang.
Easy fix
Open the lid and lay it on the ground in the sun. Hinge side on the ground. Put 2 cinder blocks on the up side and let it sit. The heat and the weight will get it tight again. Let it go a little tighter than it should be because it will open up some with a few uses.

Well boys... I'ma have to start some ****.....

Freeze your own ice in old gallon milk jugs....... They last all day and if used in a Yeti will produce enough additional ice so that you can share.

two liter bottles work for ice also......save some gas ,,, air up tires evening before a trip...........truck and trailer......

simplepeddler 02-02-2014 05:19 PM

always grab you trailer hubs when you stop on a trip........if they are too hot to the touch......put some grease in........
It has saved me more than once.

If you use an Ugly Stik, popping cork, frozen shrimp, sparkle beetles or have any kind of sticker on the back windshield of your vehicle, you will NEVER EVER be able to catch any kind of fish. That's what SC has taught me. lmao

I inject helium in all my rods to make them lighter.

Small Sizers to cut line
old shirt or towel to wipe hands off
Knives and zip locks bags- if there's a cleaning station at the doc no mess at the house or worry about disposal of fish heads

It also shaves a few bucks off the cost of a fishing trip. Its not nard to spend 10-15 bucks on ice every fishing trip.

save your fish heads to crab with at a later date, just freeze them in the ice bag and thaw on way to lake.
