Mystery hanging raccoon!

3 Attachment(s)
Hey I found this raccoon hanging about six feet high in a thicket in a wooded area in Lafayette . Any ideas what happened here? I don't think any human hung it up. I just located it in a huge briar patch because of the smell. Pic 2 is some droppings I saw nearby. Attachment 64740Attachment 64741Attachment 64742

Quickest way to kill a racoon is to bust him real good in the throat. He probably fell on accident and ended up like that

I'd think a coon hunter hung him up and couldn't find it later. But just my opinion. Really no knowledge on coons or coon hunting

young panther for sure, they can't handle that tough meat leave em in a tree to rot for a few days to aid in digestion. Probably more where it came from;)

could just be a natural death or someone shot it and it didn't fall all the way down so they left it

beavers are pretty big animals and don't have many natural predators but one of their common ways of natural mortality is from falling trees, the ones they are felling:spineyes:

(has absolutely nothing to do with the raccoon in the tree I know cool story bro)

Probably fell there and broke it's back. I've seen coon fall out of trees a few times before. Se don't make it off the pavement.

Hey these are cool theories, especially Sasquatch . Lots of owls in the area and one friend says there were reports of a black panther in the area. I think maybe a bobcat. I went back today and it is still hangin', and no jokes about how's it hangin', I see it coming .
